At SVA (Swedish Veterinary Agency), you will have a central role in a vital civil emergency preparedness authority with assignments within animal health, disease control, preparedness, and research. We are now strengthening our legal function and are looking for two experienced in-house lawyers who want to work broadly with qualified legal issues in an operation where the law is an important part of Sweden's preparedness and security.

Your future responsibilities

As an experienced in-house lawyer at SVA, you work close to the operations and serve as a qualified legal support in both strategic and operational matters. The role is broad and varied, with great opportunities to influence, contribute, and develop within the authority's different areas of operation. The role is adapted based on your experience and specialist competence, while you also receive good development opportunities in new areas based on interest and need.

SVA participates in extensive national and international cooperation within areas such as disease surveillance and research, which means you will work with complex legal issues and contracts in both a national and international context.

You will collaborate with lawyers, researchers, experts, and other authorities on issues that are often both current and critically important to society. You will become part of a team characterized by good camaraderie, lack of hierarchy, and knowledge sharing, and we welcome everyone's contribution to the authority's development.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing qualified legal support within the authority's different operational areas
• Conducting legal investigations and legal analyses
• Working with issues regarding data protection and information management
• Reviewing and drafting national and international contracts
• Conducting confidentiality assessments and handling the release of public documents
• Handling remits, statements, and appeals
• Developing and quality-assuring internal steering documents and processes
• Holding internal training sessions and contributing to knowledge dissemination

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a confident and experienced lawyer who thrives in a role where you can combine independent work with close collaboration in the operations. You are non-hierarchical, solution-oriented, and have the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new legal issues.

You have:

• A Law degree (270 credits) from the Law program (or a Juris Cand. degree with 180 academic credits)
• At least 5 years of experience as an in-house lawyer or other qualified legal work that the employer deems equivalent in the near future.
• Very good ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
• Swedish citizenship

• Administrative law and other in-house legal issues
• Civil defense at a preparedness authority, e.g., preparedness issues and total defense law
• The Security Protection Act
• Confidentiality assessment in cases regarding the release of public documents
• Contract law
• Research
• GDPR issues/Data Protection Officer (DPO)
